What would you do to get a free car? Not just any car, but from a top-notch brand, Subaru nonetheless? Apparently, for Singaporean mother Analiza Mokhtar and her fellow contestants Subaru Palm Challenge, it means standing for hours on end.
Analiza is no stranger to the famed endurance competition. In fact, many people consider her as a vetaran for participating in the contest for over 12 years. Luckily, she was finally able to bring home the bacon this year. The price? A brand new a new Subaru XV 2.0i-S Eyesight.
The Subaru Palm Challenge is an annual competition hosted by the automotive company. The rules are simple, whoever has his or her hand on the vehicle the longest wins a brand new car.
While some would think that the challenge is a no-brainer, it’s actually one of the greatest mental and physical test as it requires the endurance and perseverance of a champ. For Analiza, it took her 75 hours, 17 minutes and 58 seconds to claim the championship title.
Analiza’s has shown determination to win even in the past. In fact, she once placed as runner up to the record holder winner, G Jaishanker’s 82 hours, 16 minutes and 58 seconds record in 2014. This year’s runner up was Thai national Phraitoon Sanguannam with 75 hours and 17 minutes.
Meanwhile, Filipino participants tried to bring pride to our nation through country winner Filmark Bernante who kept pushing on until the 57th hour.
Philippine team unofficial spokesperson Carlo Talahib had this to say:
“Walang kain, walang tulog, kundisyon na kundisyon katawan namin. It’s not a joke na maglaro diyan, promise. That’s why I’m inviting all of the other people na may doubt dito sa game na ito to please try it, and represent the country.”
